the marine has decided that being a marine will be a chapter in his life that will come to an end. he will not re-enlist. i was hoping he would make a career of it. but it's not my life to live, so i will respect his decision.
yesterday, he called me to discuss his transition into civilian life. it was so awesome to hear him talking about going to school, going back to his love of art, and his thoughts/dreams of eventually starting a family.
i can't believe my little boy is legitimately a grown up.
it's funny, because i'm more afraid now then when he was little. if he makes mistakes now, if he fails now... they're big deals, but at the same time, he needs to fail, he need to experience a broken heart, etc, etc.
being the mom of an adult is much harder than being the mom of a little boy. back then, all i had to worry about was "please," "thank you," and not biting.
wish me luck on this next chapter!

I cant believe he is almost done! I remember when he first told you he wanted to enlist! My how time flies! Im sure hes made you very proud!
