Talk to me about windows
Wood v. aluminum v. vinyl- which is better? Most of ours are vinyl and I hate them (ugly) but I don't know if the other alternatives are better.
Anyone use Lowes or Home Depot? We have had lousy luck with independent contractors lately.
I also don't live on LI so I'm not really looking for recs, just general advice.

we just got some new windows. we got anderson vinyl clad wood. they have vinyl on the outside and wood inside. the wood inside is nice because you can stain it , or you can paint it.
i know we got some super efficiency ones....
we got them all from home depot and had our neighbor whose a contractor install them for us.

Home Depot has Andersons and Lowes has Pellas - We just bought 3 Pella Energy efficent windows from lowes for $205 each. The same window under the anderson name was $100 more. We got vinyl windows.
