talk to me about convertible car seats
we're looking at the Britax Marathon for our 9 month old DS
what's the difference between the Marathon and the Roundabout?
Any others we should consider?
Also, we'll need a 2nd seat for my car, but a cheaper one as that won't be used nearly as much. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

talk to me about convertible car seats
We have a Marathon and a Roundabout. The Marathon is good till 70#, the Roundabout till 55#. The roundabout is good for a smaller car. Target has a version of the Marathon called "Classic" but I believe it's the same, and it's $199. My parents have Decathlons, I bought gently used, for when they have my kids... We've had a bunch of different seats, but we love the Britax, all around.

Re: talk to me about convertible car seats
We needed 3 because of schedules with daycare etc.
We bought 3 evenflo's. They were just over $100 because of a sale at BRU but they are normally $149. So far we installed one and I have to say I love it. I was originally going to get a Britax but so glad I did not spend the money. DS loves it and it fits great in our cars. We didn't want to be restricted with putting a seat back etc.

Re: talk to me about convertible car seats
i have the graco myride65. it was highly rated by the carseat safety installer. it's so much more affordable, installs great in every car and also goes up to 65lbs.

I really like this seat too. We got it, as the cheaper 2nd seat, and where planning to get a britax for main use, but ended up getting 2. We dont use cupholders for cups, but it comes real handy for loveys and things like that. The seat just seems so big and comfy.
Its rated till 40lbs for rear facing, I think.

We have this one too- love it! Highly rated, very affordable, and easy to use. My son is almost 2.5 and is still comfortably rear facing in this seat.

Re: talk to me about convertible car seats
I have an evenflo symphony for DS and love it. It is easy to install and easy to adjust the straps. It can remain rear facing until 40 pounds, forward facing with 5point harness until 65 pounds and can be used as a high back booster until 100 pounds. It expires 7 or 8 years after manufacture date (I forget which) and has an adjustable head rest so a child growing out of it height wise would be hard unless they are well above the curve.

The Marathon and Roundabout are actually the same size now. The main differences are the weight limits and you have to manually rethread the sttraps on the Roundabout if you need to adjust them.

The only difference is the added headwings. They're both good seats, it's a matter of personal preference.
Roundabout/Marathon/Boulevard are all the same shell and size, the Advocate adds the side impact cushions which makes the seat wider than the others. So all fit the same front to back.
Many good suggestions in this thread.
In addition to the MyRide, Graco has another seat out now called the MySize that I haven't personally seen yet but fellow techs have good things to say about.
Evenflo Symphony is good, as is Triumph 65
Britax Marathon and Boulevard (I think for the extra $, the Marathon is a better buy than the Roundabout just for the added weight limit and the no rethread harness)

Re: talk to me about convertible car seats
Our parents have the myride (based on all the raves here) and i hate it! Im honestly glad it isnt in our car for daily use. I dont like where the button to loosen the strap is and dont really like the seat size itself its on the big side..
We have the britax diplomat and really like it. The button to loosen straps is in a much better spot and it tightens better. It is also not too big.
