Taking DC out to a party at 3 weeks... Question

My DC will be 3 weeks when we have a close family friends party we have to go to. I plan on putting DC in the carseat in the snap and go for the time of the party. Its an outside party. My question is,
1. How do you handle if people ask to hold the baby? I'm worried if I say yes to one person its going to turn out to everyone passing the baby around
2. How do you keep people from hovering over the baby?

We have to go to this party but I'm just worried with the baby not having shots and everyone wanting to touch hold him/her.

How should I handle this? Would it be rude if I kept the net over the seat for the time being there? I don't want to come of rude to people.

one thing i've found is that not many ADULTS 'hover' over Emma.... It would require bending down and being in that position for long periods of time doesn't agree with most adults... ANYONE who has looked at her or commented on her has not really hovered....

also - if she's 3 weeks - she'll be sleeping MOST of the time you're there....and NO ONE will ask to hold a sleeping baby....and you tell anyone who asks, we don't wake her when she's sleeping...i'm sorry....

i would keep her (because that's my guess Chat Icon) in the seat, keep the hood down, and probably cover her with a net too. I was outside yesterday at a family party and the bugs were driving me crazyyyy!

When I took my DD out at that age, no one asked to hold her. I was very happy about that! While she slept, I covered her with the netting that went over her bouncer, no one bothered her at all.

Re: Taking DC out to a party at 3 weeks... Question

Everyone always asked to hold DS, even if he was sleeping Chat Icon. When he was sleeping, I would just joke saying "haven't you heard never wake a sleeping baby", they would laugh because I said it very "jokingly", but I think they sort of got the memo on that lol. And if he was awake at that age, he was eating, and well DH or myself were the only ones aloud to feed him in public. My parents and brothers knew not to ask, because then it would become a free for all.

I'm also very very honest with people, and would ask them not to touch him etc., DS was born the end of December, and I didn't want him getting sick, and I really didn't care if somebody didn't like that lol.

Last week my sister brought her 3 week old baby to my block party. She slept through 3/4 of the party in her carseat and pretty much no one noticed her and no one at all touched her or asked to hold her. I think keeping the baby in the carseat tucked away in a corner is key.Chat Icon

ITA... we went to a 4th of July party when Mason was about 5 weeks or 6 weeks. Anyway... pple looked and made nice comments how cute, but noone asked to hold him. Most pple are respectful. He slept the whole time anyway. Just woke up for food.

ITA! No one will try to hold a baby that is sleeping in it's carseat!

I've just left my DD in the seat with the hood up and put a blanket over her. Most people understand that she's young and don't ask to hold.

i would do that, and keep her in the stroller. if anyone asks to hold her all you have to say is "she hasn't had her shots yet and the ped said no one gets to hold her until she does."
