Tailgating with kids

I just got my husband tickets to a football game for his birthday. This will be our first football game. I will have both our kids with is (8 and 10). I'm looking for suggestions on what to prepare for the day. I'd like to buy a portable grill for the day. Some are so expensive and some are so cheap. Does anyone have a portable grill that they love? Thanks!

Re: Tailgating with kids

Years ago I got the portable Weber and we love it

grill

We actually used it this past Sunday with our kids tailgating at the Jets game. My boys are 9 and 7.
We made hot dogs and sausages and chicken wings. Brought a bunch of snacks and threw the football around. Used a portable table too and chairs.
We go camping every summer with friends and use the same grill too. Never had any issues. Got some propane tanks and all good.

ETA - only thing we wish we got was the stand, but we put it on the table with no issues.

I used to have the Weber Grill that PP has when I lived in a small apartment and it works great. We had the stand and it was really helpful.

When we tailgate we either use a small charcol grill or we just bring sandwiches. Depends on our mood (we go several times a year). We always have snacks/chips too. And a cooler filled with drinks and extra waters (especially for the ride home).

Other things we bring are:
Pop-up Tent
Table
Chairs
Garbage Bags
Paper Goods/Utensils
Baby Wipes
If we grill we make sure we have:
Paper Towel
Grill Tools
Large plastic bag or box to put the dirty tools in (I usually wipe them down with a baby wipe first)

If you are going to MetLife Stadium be advised they are very strict on the size bag you can bring into the stadium if it isn't clear. I don't know the exact size but about the size of a wallet/wristlet.

Yes. We were just at MetLife and they only allow the clear plastic bags and not big.
You can bring in drinks, but they have to be closed.

Pretty much everything PP said we did. Don't forget lighter
Everyone is awesome there (if it's the home team's game) and very helpful.

This is all great info! I was looking at that same grill. I’m also looking into a small charcoal grill.DH likes charcoal and it’s also cheaper. I’m thinking a corn hole game, and a football. I’ll make this all a part of his gift. I already got my kids Jets sweatshirts. They’re going to be so excited! I hate football but I’m looking forward to the experience.
