Tableclothes....in or out?

Are tableclothes in or out in a kitchen? I don't have a dining room so my kitchen table is it.

i like my table plain but when it is in use i use a tablecloth - i don't have a fancy or expensive kitchen table but i still don't want scratches....when we eat at the table i throw on a vinyl tablecloth

we dont have one. i use cloth napkins and may eventually use nice placemats, but i just leave a vase and candlesticks on my table everyday and linens for special occasions and holidays only

I have a vinyl tablecloth on my kitchen table.. simply because DH is a slob & it is easier to clean

no tablecloth. I only use one if I have a lot of people over to eat. When it is just DH and I, we use placemats.

Im going to say they are out... I only put one on when we're having big company simply bc i dont have enough placemats for when the table is extended.... If you have a nice DR table, it just cant be covered up with a tablecloth I wish i had bought a glass top for mine though... my cats seem to chase one another and slide across the table and i have faint scratch marks on it in places

I don't think tablecothes are ever out of style.

You can keep one on your kitchen table all thetime if you want to. I just have a casual dining area in my living room & I just have a kitchen table in there. I cover it whenever I have a clean table cloth handy , b/c I don't like the table.

I love a table without one, but for formal dining I use one on the dining room table only.

I don't think they will ever go out. Restaurants will always use them!

I don't think it's an in or out sort of thing - more like a personal preference.

For us, no tablecloth.

i had no table cloth for a few months and the table was getting scratched so i either had to put glass or do a table cloth. As soon as I put the table cloth on I feel in love with the room. So I am a table cloth gal!

i don't think tablecloths have ever been an 'in or out' kind of thing, they're a necessity when you have a table you want to protect, and can really help dress up a table for the holidays.
It's more of a preference

i love our table without a tablecloth, we actually designed the room so the wood of the table contrasts with the colors in the rest of the room. When its just us eating there we use placemats. But if we're going to have a large dinner party, i'd put on a table cloth to help protect the table

we also have cats, and they like to lounge on the smooth surface of the table. If the table cloth was on there all the time, the hair would collect there. With the wood, i can just wipe it off

For a kitchen table that gets daily use, i'd say go with whatever is easiest and most comfortable for you.

When we got our kitten we had to start using a table cloth to protect the wood. She loves to run on the table and sleep there to and her nails were not kind to the surface. I am on the look out for a glass top to protect the wood instead... anyone know where to go?

We only have a dinning room table.
I use a runner on it for decoration or placemats.
But when we have people over to eat or just putting out munchies of sorts I through on a table cloth.
I even use different placemats for us to eat on

no table cloth.... just placemats, candle sticks and a small centerpiece (non floral).

I took mine off for the summer and just use a fancy placemat under my flower centerpiece.
