Switching OB at very end?
I really like my OB because he is very thorough, but I have always been bothered by the fact that he rarely answers my questions and refuses to create a birth plan. Today I needed an appointment and he wasn't in so his office advised me to see a dr on call (from another practice). This doctor answered all the questions my Dr. never did. He also told me what his plan for me would be given what he saw today. I really liked what he had to say. I was thinking about trying to talk to my Dr. one more time at my next appt and if he doesn't provide me with a plan would it be wrong of me to switch at 40w2d pregnant??

I think you need to be with someone that you feel comfortable with. If ur doc isnt answering any of ur questions, I would have definitely swtiched... but I dont think I would do it this late into the pregnancy. Not for nothing but I have 2 doc's that I see in the same practice and when I give birth, it could be the backup doctor. It would be some doctor that I dont even know.
Im just curious, how come u didnt switch earlier when you realized he wasnt really answering ur questions? Im sorry ur experiencing this

I probably wouldnt this late in the pregnancy. I think the better question is whether another OB will take you this late in the pregnancy.

Most drs won't even take you that late into your pregnancy.
Eta- I'm not sure what you mean by birth plan but all a dr can tell you is what date they won't let you go past. If there is something regarding your pregnancy that requires a c section etc.
Example. My dr would not let me go past 40w and would not let me have n extended labor. This was all due to my clotting issues and I could not be off my blood thinners for that long.

I probably would not want to switch this late in pregnancy. I would be so paranoid about how the insurance payment and everything else would work out.
