swine flu/regular flu question

sovwith the influx of the swine flu and regular flu dh and i have decided to not have people kiss our ds, or soon to be dc anywhere but on the forehead... apparently this is a horrible thing according to my parents... so i am curious if anyone else plans on limiting the facial contact with their newborns?

i am jutst curiuous what everyone else is doing... i dont plan on changing our rule since it actually only effects two people who insist on constantly being all is our childrens faces...
just to add I did not get either vaccine as i am allergic and ds only had regular flu vaccine and we have opted against the swine flu sine he isnt in daycare or playgroups..... really the only precautions we are taking is limiting his facial contact with people (they can kiss on the top of the head)

I don't see any problem with limiting kissing just to the forehead. Especially during this bad flu season. With a newborn, I wouldn't want anyone kissing baby all over his/her face anyway to be honest.

I think your parents like to give you grief, no matter what you say.

I am due December 15th and I am going to sound like an ogar but i dont want ANYONE even touching the baby...It is just to risky, and I know that not everyone that will come to visit has gotten their flu shots... It didnt help when my pediatrician scared me and said that if the baby gets a fever in the first few months she will need a spinal tap I am sorry my little baby will come first before peoples feelings...(oh that sounds bad right???)

my parents definitely lke making my life miserable.. my mother complained today and i told her that i dont care what she thinks because my children are the priority as well as myself since i have heart problems ontop of being preg... her response was to just get everyone vaccinated then... UM No....

they have yet to realize that i am the parent of these children not them

well really were else would they be kissing the baby, maybe just the cheeks, i despise when anyone other than parents kiss a baby on the mouth,
so basically i see nothing wrong with you saying it, its your child and what you say goes, and if they can't listen they cant hold the baby
