Swimming Classes?

DD is going to be 2 next week and my MIL wants to get her swim classes as a gift. I was looking at the Saf-T-Swim Oceanside location since it's closest to my house, but I'm not sure what to get.

DD is not afraid of the water at all- she's been in a pool a few times before and really enjoyed it, she's been in the ocean, she's been on a floaty and taken it all in stride, however I'm always right next to her. So I don't know if I should do the mommy and me classes first or should put her right into the individual classes. What do you think?

Re: Swimming Classes?

The mommy and me classes are more for babies. The parents mostly just hold the kids in the water to get them comfortable, but there's not really any actual learning how to swim in that class. If your daughter is already comfortable in the water, I'd put her in the 1:1 classes.

Both of my children take lessons at Safe-T Swim (Bellmore) and I recommend it. You will be in a separate room behind a mirror. It will be fine!

Let me know if you have any other specific questions. I'm happy to answer.

Re: Swimming Classes?

It depends.

I think that Saf-T-swim is flexible and would let you use $ as a credit to other classes (at least that’s what they told my sister).

I’d try your kid in the 1:1 class... but I’ve seen older kids just scream non stop in them. Not sure if it was separation or the water.... or a combination. See if you can switch to mommy and me or hold off on your classes if that happens.

The swim program local to us doesn’t allow kids out of mommy and me til 3 years old. I’m waiting til 3 to put DD#3 in swim because it is very $$$.

Thanks for this! I'll definitely inquire about it when I purchase. I think we'll try for the 1:1 classes first. Hopefully she won't need to switch. She hasn't spent A LOT of time in the water, but she's never been afraid at all. My ILs have a beach house in Roxbury so learning to swim/water safety is very important to them... and me of course!

Swimming Classes?

All three of my kids are at saf t swim Oceanside and are doing great. At 2 I would definitely do 1 on 1 classes. Ally is a great instructor with the little ones.

Swimming Classes?

My 15 month old twins go to safety swim in smithtown and they LOVE it, I thought that they would be terrified but they had 2 classes so far and did awesome! I do the 1:1 lessons and while it’s pricy they have done well

Glad to hear you like this location! I know it varies, but this is literally 8 minutes from my house. And I'm lazy! lol!

Thanks everyone- we're going for 1:1 classes!
