Swim Diaper/Question for Those With Pools
Hello! Do these diapers really work? I have a pool so I am wondering if I need to buy these diapers for the summer. Im sure they are a lot more expensive so I am just wondering if they really work. Are they just for poop control??????
If you have a pool in your yard, do you require all babies who go in to wear these diapers?
Thank goodness for chemicals!!

The only difference with swim diapers as opposed to regular diapers is that they are not absorbent at all. This way, they don't soak all the pool water and get huge. But it also means it doesn't absorb pee, so that just runs right out. It does contain poop though. I've always used Huggies swim diapers and had no problem with them.

yup..swim diapers just keep the poo contained - not the pee..
so make sure you change them before they go down for a nap (esp in the stroller) I speak from experience !!

Yes! Believe me you do not want a poop floating around in the pool. LOL! All that running and swimming in the summer. IT could cause some loose... you know what. BTW... too much chlorine and don't be surprised if it's green too. LOL!
We have a bar with shelves where we keep a ton of the Swimmie Diapers in. THey're in a storage container and keep them there all summer stocked up. THis way we have it for the boys any time or guests if they forgot. If you put them in the pool in regular diapers be prepared that they'll explode and your baby will weigh much more.

Yes to all of this. I once took my DD in the pool in a regular diaper and HOLY HELLL that diaper absorbed so much water it weighed like 40 lbs!

Oh yes! this too. I will never forget DD standing on the patio after we got out of the pool and I look down and see a puddle forming. She was peeing on the ground! Right out of the diaper!

Re: Swim Diaper/Question for Those With Pools
what about just for playing in sprinklers? would you still recommend a swim diaper? DS's 1st birthday will be in a park that has a sprinkler area and He's cruising and taking steps with a walker now at 9 mos...so I'm assuming he might be walking or starting to attempt walking by then. I'll obviously be in there with him assisting him but does he need a full on swim diaper? or would you just use a regular diaper and change it when he's done playing?
