Swelling
Is anyone starting to swell in the hands and feet? Is this normal or should I be calling my OB? My washer and dryer broke and I spent 4 hours in the laundry place so i was wondering if being on my feet that long plus it being so hot is contributing to the swelling. I am going to rest for an hour and see if it goes down before I call.

Re: Swelling
well, if you overexerted yourself, that likely is the cause... but swelling is also a very unreliable symptom of pre-eclampsia. (your bp and urine are the REAL symptoms of pre-eclampsia, so don't be afraid, becuase swelling is soooo common) if you're worried, though, you could always call your OB's office and have them check your BP and urine......
right now I'm totally swollen. my feet, ankles, calves, and hands all have swelling. it started around 30 weeks on and off (began only with overexertion, and eventually became 'permanent') and is now a real problem.
Drink a lot of water (bumping up consumption by a liter or so erased my swelling at your stage), avoid salty foods, and elevate your feet whenever possible....
good luck!

Re: Swelling
I started swelling about 2 weeks ago (around 34 weeks), but it's very common. I agree with the pp that they will be monitoring your urine & BP for pre-eclampsia so most likley you don't have anything to worry about. If you swell a LOT in one day I would think that would warrant a call to the OB. And definately drink water and keep off your feet, that will help a lot.

Re: Swelling
We're due right around the same time and I've noticed that when it's hot and/or I've been on my feet for too long things are starting to swell. I think it's normal. If it doesn't go away after resting and hydrating then I'd call my doctor.
