Swaddle
When did you stop swaddling? DD is 3months and she hates it, but it's the only way she'll go to sleep in her crib. It keeps her hands down so she can't hit herself or put them in her mouth which keeps her up. It's so frustrating because it's a fight to get her in it and she breaks out if it's not tight enough. Once I have a good swaddle she goes right to sleep. She doesn't use it in the swing when she naps, but I think the motion keeps her hands down. Any suggestions? I just tried to put her down without it and she cried and cried. HELP!

Re: Swaddle
My DD hated the swaddle as soon as we got home from the hospital. No matter what we did she broke out of it.
DID you try the swaddle me? IT has velcro tabs to keep it closed.
ETA: When she started fighting us, we let her win. She sleeps wonderfully too.

My son too. He actually hated it in the hospital too. So he has never been swaddled.

Re: Swaddle
I used the Miracle Blanket until 5 months, it was the only was he would sleep and the swaddle me didn't work IMO, you can't get it tight enough. The miracle blanket really was a miracle, then one day he didn't want to be swaddled and I let him go down without it and he hasn't used it since!

I literally just ordered one too. Kaylee sooooo restless and colicky. I'm willing to try anything. She hates the swing, hates her glider. She even fusses in the baby bjorn and the car.

Re: Swaddle
My son who is now 3 was swaddled until 4 months old...When we heard the velcro tabs ripping open at night I knew it was time to give it up..To my suprisment, the next night went fine. There's something about that thing that works like magic, at least for us it did.
FYI I just had baby #2 a week ago and I am using it again, but only at night. My son slept until 3AM and then went back to sleep until 7AM. For his naps I put him in the cradle unswaddled

great question!
Kristen - Kaylee sounds a LOT like Nikolas. He liked his swing when he was a week old, then decided he hated it and wont go in it anymore..he hates the bouncy seat.. is not a fan of the pack and play.. and pretty much only wants to nap in his car seat during the day or when we're in the car (that is WHEN he naps!)
At night, we're lucky he sleeps "OK' in the bassinette but its verrry restless sleep.. and at most only for 2 hour stretches at a time..The swaddle me blankets didn't work at all for us, he wiggled his arms out everytime.. but I might give the miracle blanket a try too!
Thanks for posting!

Re: Swaddle
I had the same exact problem. I did it at nightime (not for naps) until he was 6 months old!!
Why do you feel you need to stop swaddling

Re: Swaddle
I haven't swaddled James since he was first born. He kept kicking himself out of it, so it wasn't worth it. He likes having his arms free, so the swaddle me was never an option.

Re: Swaddle
I stopped swaddiling at 3 months old...when I moved her into the crib. I found that Kerri puts herself to sleep by sucking on her hands.....maybe your DD is trying to do that?

Ugh, they sound like they could be related! I try to swaddle her with a regular blanket and that helps a little bit, so I'm hoping the miracle blanket will be the answer. I had gotten so lucky with Christopher. We never had any issues with him. I'm just glad he was our first child, because had it been the other way around, I'm not so certain we would've had two Definitely not so close anyway.

Re: Swaddle
I swaddled Bella until she was 8 months old...she had to be swaddled...we started doing one arm out at around 6 months, but her other arm was all over the place and woke her up...
She was sleeping through the night at 3 1/2 months and only waking up once at night just to eat before that...
I LIVED for the swaddle, it was hard to break her and when we did, the only way it worked the first swaddle-less nights was to have her blanket lightly touch her cheek when she went to sleep.
