Surgery or not?
Hello all:
I think I've posted in Infertility before, but it's been a while. We've been TTC#2 for about 15 months now and have begun fertility investigations. For me, bloodwork is always normal (I've done this a few times) but I've got a short LP with spotting. DH's SA is all normal, except for a borderline morphology (he's at 5%, normal starts at 6%).
As part of the initial fertility investigation, I had to have a sono of my uterus and ovaries. The uterus looks normal, no fibroids, polyps, etc. But they found two cysts in my left ovary. They said they're probably dermoids, but they sort of look like they're fused together and one almost looks like it could be an endometrioma, but they've said probably not because the ovary and the uterus themselves are free floating and with endo everything tends to get stuck together and becomes fixed. Anyway, it's 4cm, so at a really in between size - the doctor said that there are cases where they'll say definitely leave it alone, and others where they'll say definitely have the surgery. Because mine is in between, they said it's up to us.
According to the head doctor, he said the dermoid should not be affecting fertility, but the doctor that I was speaking with said that they couldn't say 100%. In googling, I find really mixed results - some people say they got pg after having a dermoid removed. So I'm just not sure what to do.
Anyone have any experience?
Thanks so much!
