Re: sunscreen for 8 month old
We use California Baby and love it...DD is blonde and very fair-skinned and it works great. I like that it is chemical-free. I do reapply it every 2 hours religiously though, which is a bit of a pain, but I just feel since there are less chemicals in it it probably doesn't last as long as other sunblocks.
We always do a sunhat too, one with SPF in the fabric. DD has a ton of hair, but her scalp is a burn target (can't tell you how many times in my life I've gotten a sunburn on my scalp )

Good question! I've been wondering the same what everyone uses. My DD is very fair too.. Is 30 the highest SPF that California Baby comes in?

I just bought Aveeno Baby suncreen - think it's SPF 55 ... put some on her face on Easter and worked well I guess (and no reaction).

I bought that too but haven't tried it yet. I use a lot of Aveeno products for myself including sunscreen.

That's the highest they make. According to lots of studies I've seen, anything over 30 is the same in terms of effectiveness....it's supposedly how often you reapply the sunblock that's really crucial (as I said, I do it every 2 hours when we're outside).
