Summer fun for a 2 yr old
Hey ladies. Just wondering what some of you would recommend for a 2 yr old during these 90 degree/humid days? I love taking her outside, but she doesn't do too well with the high heat and humidity. We went to soccer yesterday and it was brutal. I'm looking for fun things to get her out of the house. Thanks!

How about a sprinkler park? Where are you located?

Re: Summer fun for a 2 yr old
On a day like today, I only take my 2-year-old out to do things that involve water... either town pool or a sprinkler park or even playing with her water table under our tree where she's in the shade.

Re: Summer fun for a 2 yr old
What about indoor things, like Le Play Cafe (on Merrick Rd in Bellmore) or library? A lot of the local libraries have different programs/toys/activities, and you can use any of them.
Newbridge Pool has a kiddie pool, as well as Forest City pool in Wantagh. As someone else said, Wantagh Park pool has a cute splash/play area for little kids.
Also, the Children's Museum is fun and they have (or at least have had in past summers) an outdoor play area with water.
Some local indoor bouncy/slide places have open play. I always thought Wood Kingdom in Farmingdale was good for toddlers, because it's contained and has some smaller equipment.

A regular sprinkler, kiddie pool, or water table keeps dd cool and happy in the backyard. Occasionally I give her a bowl of soapy water and a car wash sponge and let her clean all her outdoor toys which makes us both happy.

Re: Summer fun for a 2 yr old
Places like My Gym, Gymboree, Little Gym, etc. are perfect BC they are indoor and have AC on the really hot days.
Sprinkler and water parks through your town.
A water table in the yard in a shaded area will provide tons of fun for that age.
Once Upon A Treetop in Plainview is an indoor play park.
White Post Farms in Melville has animals to feed, lots to see, and much of it is shaded by canopies. Also, sometimes they have water features and inflatables with water or slides -- some of them might work for that age.
The Aquarium - it is a drive, in Riverhead, but it is a great day trip.
Your local library will have story time hours for kids that age.
