Suggest a weekend getaway...
That is not a bed and breakfast, is not AC/Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun, is not DC and is not overly crowded like NYC. Something laid back, maybe with some antiquing, shops, history? We thought about Boston. But aside from bars, what is there to do in the inter where there is a ton of snow? Lol

This. Went a few years ago for a weekend and had a great time. Or maybe Newport, RI - not sure when you are planning on going and not sure if many things are closed in the winter, but definitely worth looking into - I love it there!

I hated Philadelphia. I thought it was a complete sh!thole.
I would like to suggest Montauk. Its so nice and beautiful scenary. Its the perfect time to go now, no vacationers there. A few restaurants might be closed because its off season, but call ahead to make reservations.
Its a great place to go, especially this time of year.

Re: Suggest a weekend getaway...
Lancaster, PA? I'm looking into booking a weekend there in the spring for my DH and DS.
We went Memorial Day weekend last year. We did shopping, outlets and country type stuff. We planned to do a farm day but it was crazy hot. Had some good ol home cooking at some restaurants. It was fun. There is lots of antiquing I saw signs for but we didn't do it.

Boston has soem great museums. THe sciene one is great. I even love the Children's Museum as an adult. Aquarium is right there too. Also plenty of things to see indoors. Its a very walkable city even in the cold.

We went to Lancaster for one night 2 weeks ago on a whim. Wanted to try something different this coming weekend. But, we may end up going back.

I agree. You can spend the day touring the old mansions.
