subchorionic hematoma

I"m 14 weeks pregnant and last wednesday I started to bleed. Went for sono and baby looks amazing but they said I have a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot) and it could go either way. I only bled for one night and since then I have had on and off brown spotting, no cramps.
I am due to go in for another sono tomorrow morning.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this?

I had one and it appears to have absorbed on it's own. Did you not know prior to bleeding that you had one? I was told at our first sono at 7 weeks.

I had one with DD and one with my current

Both of mine bled out ( as opposed to my body reabsorbing it ) Apparently I have come to find out that they are very common ( take a look at the realted posts below or do a search and you will see the same )...I had a crazy amount of bleeding with DD on a few occasions and one red bleeding episode with this current pregnancy..You may also see clots ( which are actually a good thing)

They will be able to see the "trail" of blood on your sonograms to give you a general idea of how much more blood is there...As scary and nerve wracking as they are, they are extremeily common

A bunch of people on here have had them. I had one with my twins. I bled on and off (sometimes SUPER heavy and red) from 5wks-15wks. It was really stressful and I really thought I lost the babies a bunch of times.
Towards the end of the bleeding, I was just spotting brown on and off. I did have one last BIG bleed and then it pretty much stopped.
The most helpful thing for me was resting. I put myself on modified bedrest and didn't do any house cleaning (I have a wonderful husband and boss).

Friend of mine had one and she was convinced no one could lose so much blood and not miscarry.

It wound up being nothing to be concerned about, she bled and the rest of her pregnancy was fine.

i have 2...found them at 9 weeks had a considerable amount of bleeding for 1 night and then was put on lovenox injections and haven't bled a day since, i do not believe they have gone away and i'm 31 weeks, they are very common several girls on here have experienced this

i had it also and lasted for a good amount of time. It did however go away on its own

thank you ladies for your responses!
The doctors have me very worried especially when they use the term threatened miscarriage. ( I already miscarried one at 8 weeks, non related to blood clot) so you can imagine my fear at 3 1/2 months pregnant.
A friend gave me a doppler so I have been listening to the baby each night and it sounds great, so that makes me feel better.
I have put myself on modified bed rest as well, no cleaning, lifting, and lots of couch time with my feet up. I am also off this whole week from work so I am taking it easy.
I'll ask the doc lots of questions in the morning.

I have one. I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins. I knew about it since I was 7 weeks or so. I went to a fertility clinic so they monitor you frequently. I was told it could either absorb or bleed out. After 7 weeks I figured i was just absorbing it. Then when I was 14 weeks I started bleeding. I was freaking out like crazy. I called my Dr and he was really not concerned at all but said I could come in the next day. He said to rest and drink lots of water. Water really helps you stop your uterus from contracting.

I went in the next day and the SCH was much smaller and everything was ok. It was a terrible night waiting to go to the dr. of course I was convinced I would lose them but so far I didn't and I will be 17 weeks on Saturday.

I don't know anyone that lost their pregnancies because of an SCH.
My dr described it as a "lake of blood" that pools up due to the changes happening in the uterus. Building the placenta, especially around 12-14 weeks, and all that growth in your uterus causes the bleeding.

I would say not to worry but I know that never helps me since I thrive on worrying like its air. Seems like every time I stop worrying something goes wrong and every time I worry I get good news.

You baby is strong and has passed the 12 week mark. She has her own placenta and is growing strong. Drink lots of water and rest when you can. And if you want to check on her tell your OB you want to have another ultrasound. Tell them you are freaking out and you want to see your baby and get the SCH measured.

I am 9wks & i too have a SCH. I have known since 6wks. I had red bleeding for about two minutes at 5 wks then two episodes of brown when wiping. Since then nothing all is fine. The SCH has not grown at 6 wks it was 1cm & 7 wks its 2 cms & hasnt changed since. Im hoping it absorbs because i truly believe if i see blood i may just pass out. I canttake anymore worry. I too had a M/C at 13 wks no heartbeat. Then a chemical this Sept. So im so praying this one works out. St Gerard is my BFF. lol
