Stupid question
Can you really get sick if you go outside with a wet head? If so, why is that?

Re: Stupid question
Yes!!! Because when you are wet you lose more heat! And I guess your temp lowers. Kinda like going in 40 degrees air vs. 40 degrees water...

hey wait, but this doesn't answer why losing heat makes you sick? I think its b/c your immune system is in a weakened state at that point?

ye, I believe I have heard that if your immune is down from already being exposed to germs, that is when you can get sick from going out with a wet head.

Re: Stupid question
No. It doesn't make you sick unless your immune system is already weakened.
Would I do it? No I don't even let DS go to bed with a wet head, I *know* it won't make him sick, but I'm nuts

I think it's a myth. A virus makes you sick, not being cold.

I think it's a myth. A virus makes you sick, not being cold.
I have not started my day with a dry head in YEARS unless I am going to a weding or some other event, so I either have the toughest immune system ever (definitely not), or this isn't something to be too concerned about.

Me too. I run out of the shower and off to work everyday with a wet head and I've had maybe 3 instances of sniffles all winter.
I put DS to bed with damp hair sometimes and knock on wood, he's fine too.

Re: Stupid question
I'm pretty sure it's an old wives tale. You can even google it. I always use to run out with my hair wet in HS when I was running late and NEVER got sick. Colds are caused by germs and bacteria, not temperature. Cold weather and a wet head have nothing to do with catching a cold.

Re: Stupid question
You get sick from viruses, not from your head being cold.
