stupid kitchenaid mixer question here...

I've seen a ground meat attachment for the kitchenaid mixer.. anyone use this to make their own ground meat at home?? how does it taste?

I don't have that attachment.... I've heard its a PIA to clean? I'm presuming that what you put in = how good it tastes when you cook it

If I ever venture down that road of grinding my own meat, I think I'll use the cooks illustrated method:
cut meat into small cubes
freeze for about 20 min until firm
pulse in food processor

My friend does it and its pretty simple

you have to make sure that you either get meat that is marbled with fat or add some fat to the mixture.

when you put it through the grinder, at the end she always puts through a slice of bread or 2. that kind of cleans out the blades. the grinder all comes apart and goes right in the dishwasher,
