Re: stupid ?...easter eggs

I put them in cold water and bring it to a boil, then turn it down to medium and cook for 10 minutes...I know there are lots of methods, but this one works for us

Isn't there also something about putting vinegar in the water to help prevent breakage?

I could swear I remember this from somewhere... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: stupid ?...easter eggs

My cook book says to put in cold water. Bring to a rapid boil. Take off heat and cover with lid. Let them sit for 15 minutes. Then transfer to ice cold water to cool them.

yes you add vinegar to the water while boiling the eggs it makes the shells harder and the colors stick to it better!Chat Icon

I do that too. I cracked half of our eggs though because I was too lazy to scoop them one by one out of the water and just poured them in the strainer. Chat Icon
