Re: Stuffed cabbage
My mom's recipe. It's yummy!
Ingredients: 1 Large head of cabbage (About 4-5 lbs) 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of chuck chopped meat 2 Eggs Salt and Pepper 1 Cup of cooked rice 4 Cans of Condensed Tomato Soup 4 Cans of Water 1 Cup of Ketchup
How to cook cabbage: 1. Take the head of cabbage and put in a pot and bring it to a boil, letting it cook halfway, approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
2. Drain the cabbage and let it cool.
How to put together meat mixture: 1. Take the chuck chopped and mix it with the 2 eggs, salt and pepper to taste and the cup of cooked rice.
Once the meat is mixed and the cabbage is cool, separate the cabbage leaves and put about the size of a meatball of meat in the center and wrap it. Line each stuffed cabbage in a large pot.
After all the stuffed cabbages are in the pot, add the 4 cans of condensed tomato soup, 4 cans of water and the cup of ketchup.
Cover and let this come to a boil. Once it boils, lower the heat to a simmer and mix carefully until done which is about an hour to an hour and a half.
We usually serve the stuffed cabbage with mashed potatos and use the sauce in the pot as the gravy.

Re: Stuffed cabbage
I'm hungarian and actually just made it this week, but I don't make it sweet, I make it a bit kickier than most. I do it by eye too not by measurements
Boil the head of cabbage for about 15 mins let it cool
ground beef cooked rice salt pepper hungarian paprika garlic powder onion powder oregano
mix all of the above together
wrap in cabbage leaves
put in pot of tomato sauce (canned good brand) and some tomato paste...if the sauce is too thick mix some water in. Mix in spices that you used in the meat in the sauce as well Let cook on medium-low until tender!
