STTN question
I just read the threads on STTN and think we are doing somehting wrong. Baby is bottlefed with BM every 2-3 hrs. which is basically feeding on demand. She wakes at night for feeding. she is 6 weeks. If we continue the feed on demand won't she continue to wake during night? Just curiuos what other's have experienced. TIA

Re: STTN question
I dont think so..eventually she will start drinking more and it will keep her satisfied during the night. DS is 2mths and around 6weeks he started STTN. Prior to that he was also been fed on demand and would wake up at 3am and 6am for milk...at 6 weeks he eliminated those two feedings and wakes up at 8am and goes to bed at 10pm.

STTN question
My DS naturally eliminated night feedings by about 4 months. However he still wakes up at night now at 12 months!! (not to be fed though)

Re: STTN question
My DD would eat every 3 hrs too but right before she was 8 weeks old that last nighttime bottle was suddenly enough food for her to stay satisfied through the night. She did it all on her own, we just followed her lead, but as soon as she did it once..........we never gave her a middle of the night bottle again. Even if she woke up in the middle of the night for some reason we would hold her and rock her but NO bottle. Obviously she showed us she was able to make it through the night without eating so we made sure to just cut that nighttime bottle out completely once she was STTN.

Re: STTN question
DS was formula fed (not sure if that makes a difference) and he never gave up the nighttime bottle. We had to wean him off at 6 months.

Re: STTN question
we fed on demand. Around 9-10 weeks, he was waking up once at night, like 3-4am. But then he would get up at 6am for the day. So one night we just let him cry and gave him the pacifier. He cried for less than 3 minutes and went back to sleep. Hasn't woke for a night feeding since.
But at 6 weeks, we were feeding on demand. Around 8 weeks he started eating much more and going longer at night.
It will happen!

Re: STTN question
My DD was also bottlefed BM. She was a good sleeper early on. By 4 weeks she would go to sleep around 10 and wake between 1-3am and then between 6-7am. She slept next to us in the RNP. If she woke I would try rocking her before I got up to feed her. Many times she would fall back asleep and not really need a feeding. Eventually that time span got bigger and she didnt wake for the night feeding. By 3 months she was going to sleep between 8-9 and sleeping 12 hours.
Now at almost 8 months she is in bed between 730-8 and sleeps until 8-830 and has not woken up a single time at night since she was about 2-3 months old.
I also swear by the sound machine! We didnt use it the first month or so. Then she started to become a bit more restless going to sleep and during the night. I initially didnt want to use it bc I didnt want her to be dependent on it but after one night she slept so much better.
