Stroller question for those with 2
DH and I were in BRU picking out a shower gift for a friend this weekend and we got on the topic of strollers. I originally intended on registering for the Graco Aire3 or Modes...just a traditional stroller system with the click in infant seat. We happened to pass by the Baby Jogger City Select, which has the option of turning into a double stroller, which got us thinking, if we DO get a standard stroller system, what would we do when baby #2 comes along? Our "plan" right now is to try to have them close together....so let's say baby #1 is somewhere between 1 1/2 and 2 when baby #2 comes along. For those of you who have 2 DC's close in age, what kind of stroller did you get and how did it work out for you?
I'm thinking by 2, DC1 could possibly be moved to an umbrella stroller, but it would make outings with 1 parent a hassle. At the same time, a stroller like the City Select seems very bulky and heavy for everyday use with just 1 child in the meantime. I'm so torn. I only want to spend the money once though, so I want to make the right purchase.

Stroller question for those with 2
I'm in that situation now and have to buy a double. I wish I would've gotten the city select to begin with. I'd probably go with the select if I was you. It's bulky but it's not terrible. Plus it has all the features you need (click system + toddler seat). I think it's worth it in the long run. I regret not getting it.

Stroller question for those with 2
My kids are exactly 2 years apart. And I have a million strollers so here's my experience.
Joovy x2 - double side by side. Love this one. It's great for long walks, zoo, parks, etc. plus dd1 loves being able to sit next to dd2
Britax Bready- bought this for dd1 with plans to attach a second seat when we had our second. I never bought the second seat and don't like the way it is tandem. We also tried and returned the stand on boogy board. It was so rickety and I had to outstretch my arms so far so dd1 could stand.
Joovy ultralight - sit and stand. Dd1 likes this one to sit on the back or stand although we never use it
To be honest, most of the time dd1 is in a car seat clicked into the stroller and dd2 is walking next to me. With the exception of big outings or long walks and she likes the side by side.

Stroller question for those with 2
My 2 are 16 months apart and I have the City Select which worked really well for us. Now that I'm expecting #3, I like the fact I can use it as a single, a double (if my 3 yr old cooperates) and even attach a glider board for my 4 year old.

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
Mine are 26 months apart. I can't say I regret not getting a stroller that can convert to a double from the start, but I think a lot does have to do with timing and your kids' personalities too. When DD2 was born, it was at the beginning of a horrible winter. By the time it was nice enough to get out with both girls, DD1 was basically done with the stroller. DD1 is also a pretty reasonable kid. I never had to worry much about keeping her contained or running off if she wasn't strapped in the stroller. If I had had DD2 first, without a doubt I would've needed it, lol. I did get a double, and we get good use out of it, but we use the single much much more. Also, the cost of the 2 strollers I picked still worked out to be less than some of the ones that convert- I have the Britax B-agile single and a Joovy double.

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
my kids are 15 months apart and i love the city mini double.
it is smart to think about the future, and the city select is a great option for that reason. I personally did not like the city select because in order to fold it while using it as a double, you actually have to remove a seat. i like the convenience and ease of the city mini much more.

I didn't like double tandem strollers. I had a single citi mini & got the Joovy x2 with #2. Got rid of both of them when kids grew out & now using people's "donation" strollers! I'd go with an inexpensive single & see where life takes you!

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
I love my city select. Kids are 2 yrs, 4 months apart.
I have both seats and the skateboard and car seat attachment.
I have a single umbrella, double mclaren and snap and go. Done with snap and go so will be selling it.
Yes, overboard but I love my city select. Even though it's bulky, it's my stroller of choice as it handles so well and is comfy to push. It's so versatile, can be single OR double. I like that it fits through doorways and store aisles. Basket is big.
Got the mclaren double used for super cheap so I said why not but it doesn't ride very smoothly and the basket is a joke. I like storage space for a long day at a zoo, etc.
I just regret the snap and go. I should have just gotten the car seat attachment with first kid and not bothered with this. I'm probably in the minority with this opinion.

We had a b-agile for DD1. Bought b-agile double for DD2. I use them both. I love the double, but I often need a smaller stroller. I like City Select, but the side-by-side doubles are easier to maneuver.

Not a fan of the city select with two... I much prefer an uppa baby. Its just an all around harder stroller to deal with and everything (when comparing it to ub) is a hassle. Even my nanny dislikes the city select. My second preference is the bagile... Glides perfectly.

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
My two are 25 months apart but DD2 was a surprise. For DD1 I got a Graco jogging stroller. After DD2 was born I got the Graco fast action fold double. There's no way I trust my 2 year old to walk nicely in places without running away and I go out with the girls too often by myself to use two strollers. I'd also like to get a double jogging stroller so I can bring both girls out for runs.

Stroller question for those with 2
I started with a Snap and Go for DS 1 and then when he got bigger I used the Maclaren Umbrella (wish I had a City Mini though instead - similar price).
When I had DS 2 - we got the City Mini double with carseat adapter.
I still use the City Mini double today for long walking trips and my kids are 6 and 4. It has a higher weight limit than the select.

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
I have twins but I think what I use could still work for you with two that are less than or about 2 years apart.
I registered for the Joovy X2 scooter and I LOVE it! Most don't love side by side strollers because its just too big and bulky but I feel like the kids are really comfortable in it. It reclines almost down to a lying position and has HUGE storage underneath. I also had the double snap and go for infant seats but now that we don't use that anymore we got the City Select! Such an awesome stroller! For a tandem, it's just the best! I still love my Joovy side by side but the City Select is narrow and makes going shopping or anywhere really, easier! Downside is that the seats have to be removed to put in the trunk and it takes up a lot of space. We have a Jeep and it takes over the trunk. It's extremely easy to break down and put back on though!

Re: Stroller question for those with 2
Get the single now. If/when you have another, invest in the double then. You'll still use your single then, too.
DS is 3 and DD is almost 1. I love the City Mini double, and we have a City Mini single, too. When I have both kids for long outings, we use the double. If I only have the baby, I use the single. Or, if it's just running a quick errand, DS will walk and I'll use the single for DD. I get plenty of use out of both of them.

Stroller question for those with 2
i wish I knew about the UPPA when I had dd1. would have been so easy and cheaper to convert to double. Friends have it and I loved it. My dd's are 3 years apart. But when dd2 came along, we were in Boston and we walked alot in the city. Couldn't have dd1, 3 yrs, to walk across stretts etc. we got the britax bready and made it a double. I love it. It's big but it rides really nicely and have the option for 2 kids. I am due now dc 3 and so happy I have it. Even though dd2 is 3 yrs old now I can have her sit in it if I need to. 3 kids is hard to walk around with lol

DS and DD are 3 years apart. We got a citi mini double and its been the best thing for us. We use it anytime we are doing an all day thing with the two of them.
