Re: Stripes
Never did stripes, but just want to say, it's just paint.... you can't screw it up. If it doesn't come out right, let it dry, and paint over it!

Re: Stripes
someone posted about this a couple weeks ago and said that they used the blue painting tape... I'll see if I can find it and bump it

Re: Stripes
I did them in DS#2's room...once I got the hang of it - they went really quick.
My biggest trick would be to get a long level. I marked the point by the ceiling and got the level lined up and then it became super easy to line the tape up.

Re: Stripes
just wanted to add:
I don't like that I made the stripes on the top of the wall...if I did it again I would do it on the bottom. I feel like I can't hang anything on the wall as it looks too busy.
but doing half the wall was MUCH easier and not as overwhelming - but maybe half is more for a kid's room?
don't mind the rocker - it was a handimedown and worked for what we needed - but it totally doesn't match the room...LOL

Re: Stripes
I have done it. I did this on a bookcase that I had. I used painting tape and then painted the colors. The key is that you should remove the tape when it's still a bit wet. HTH have fun Image Attachment(s):

Re: Stripes
Colin's nursery has the stripes, don't know if you remember them so pics are below.
Advice:
1) measure everything out / tape it out one day and do the painting another. This will let you come into it with a fresh eye and confirm that the measurements are correct.
2) do the stripe in a different finish, not just color, from the rest of the wall. So if your walls are matte, do eggshell finish - it'll make the stripe pop.
3) do only half a wall. My sister did my niece's entire room (pink and white) and you'd think you have vertigo walking in - it's just too much.
4) begin the first stripe overlapping a corner and go out from there. It looks far more natural this way (people swore up and down that mine was wallpaper).
Good luck!! I'd love to see pics. Is this for Vincent's new big boy room?
