Stressful
My parents are in the process of selling their house and they bought a new one in Wantagh. My Grandfather built that house and my mother has lived there since she was a little girl. They have accumulated so much crap of the 25 years they have been there and my mother has such a hard time getting rid of things. I went over there the other day, I just threw things away...without a care! My mother still has clothing from high school!
With the realtor they're using, they had a lady come over and critique the house...what goes, what stays...things to make the house sell. They want my parents to rip up the rug in the living room/dining room because everyone loves wood floors. I know that they will not do it. They have so much to do, they're STRESSING out. This lady is coming back every week to see what they have accomplished. She has demands that are not going to be fulfilled within a weeks worth of time. Don't get me wrong, she was a nice lady...I can just see the tears in my mother's eyes when she thinks about all the things she has to do...
Sorry...i just had to vent. Moving=Stress

I'm sorry your parents are being unnecessarily stressed out like that. Moving is stressful enough in and of itself, they really don't need any added stress!
What your parents should tell this realtor is that as long as the house is clean and clutter free, the realtor needs to concentrate on DOING HER JOB, which is selling their house, and not be up their AZZ every week like a drill seargeant!!!
Hope they sell quickly!!!

Re: Stressful
OMG...i can't imagine it. We just sold our condo and i thought i was going to DIE. It is VERY stressful. And i can't imagine getting a house that has been lived in forever ready.....
IMO i think that this lady is too pushy. I am sure they signed a contract but i would want another realtor!

Re: Stressful
I can TOTALLY relate. My in laws are pack rats (to put it mildly) and they spent a week emptying (throwing out) stuff before an appraisor came. Now there is a realestate agent coming Monday. We have to soon decide how much & what work to do to help sell the house. It REALLY needs a lot of work......It's so hard for them! Good Luck!

Re: Stressful
I totally know how you feel. In 2004 my parents moved from their 12 room house to a 2 bedroom condo. My mother was a pack rat, and she kept everything. Still to this day, my dad has one bedroom filled with boxes. Stuff he doesnt know what to do with, because my mom didnt want to throw anything out.
Also my wifes great uncles house is going on the market on sunday. It is in New Hyde Park. We went over there 2 weeks ago, got a dumpster and cleaned everything out. We also ripped all the carpeting up to reveal beautiful hardwood floors. The house needs a little work but the hardwood floors look amazing.
If anyone is looking in New Hyde Park, Let me know. Open house is this sunday. Scott
