stray cat in my backyard - Final Update

so i am finally bringing the stray in my backyard to the vet, if i can get it in the carrier, it is very friendly and is always trying to come in my house
i feel so bad for it, it has fleas,

so my question is i would like to maybe bring it to a no kill shelter once it is all cleaned up, i would keep it but dh is allergic, he said we could try for a couple of days but i felt that would be even crueler to have it in the house and then put it out again

so where can i bring it, it is an adult orange striped cat, so cute and friendly

UPDATE: i know this is old but i wanted to give a final update on this, we had the cat in the house, got along great with my dog, but thankfully we were able to find it a great home, a coworker of my dads wanted an orange cat, how funny that is what this cat was, she was so happy and excited when we brought him, so i know he is in a good home now, although i do miss him a little

Re: stray cat in my backyard

UPDATE: the cat is microchipped the owners are from the bronx and claim that they brought the cat along with 3 others it adopted back to CACC, which of course i don't believe cause why is it in my backyard then!!!

so the vet is giving it a flea bath and such, dh said we can keep it in the house for about a week or so try to adopt it out or bring to a no kill shelter or bac to CACC which i am leary about

poor thing everyone in the vet kept commenting on how cute and friendly he was, oh yeah and hes about 2-3 yrs old

make sure whoever adopts it changes the contact info for the microchip just in case anything ever happens, the cat will be returned to the right owners.

Poor little guy. I feel bad that he is so friendly and wants to be in the house. I can't believe that some people treat their pets this way. They probably just let him loose. I hope you can find a forever home for this baby. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would try bringing the cat in the house first. My DH who has every allergy known to man, sucked it up so he could give me our kitten. The first few days his eyes were a little itchy, but for the most part he is fine now (and its been almost a year). i would think even a week inside a safe house would be better than a week outside where anything could happen to it. Who knows, maybe your DH's allergies will be fine like mine and you'll never have to let it outside again!Chat Icon

Re: stray cat in my backyard - Update

yes dh already agreed to bring it in the house for now,
the funny thing is dh has had cats in the past, but he used to get bad migraines and such, both our moms have cats and if he doesn't wash his hands after touching them his eyes get all itchy and he gets a headache,
maybe if he is around the cat alot the symptoms will subside,
what the hell is he going for allergy shots every week if its not gonna cure his allergies!!!!!

Yeah, you tend to build up a tolerance to a cat you are around a lot... you just have to give it some time... Good luck to the OP! Chat Icon
