Stray cat and kittens
Today we found a stray cat in our yard that has five kittens. The kittens are really tiny. We scared the mother out of their hiding spot twice today. It wasn't until the 2nd time that we even realized the kittens were there. Do I just leave them? I don't want to touch the kittens because I'm afraid the mom will never come back. We left out food and water for her.
I just don't want anything to happen to them.

Is mom friendly? She will come back to them even if you touch them but unless they are in danger or you have someone to take them all (including mom) I would leave them be for the time being.

Stray cat and kittens
We had the same situation last year.
We left them alone, didnt touch them. Left out food for the mom so she had enough nutrients to feed them. She would carry them from place to place when she felt threatened. Eventually they just disappeared. We thought it was better to let nature take its course, instead of intervening.

Stray cat and kittens
Ok so most of the food we left out last night was gone. Two of the kittens were gone. There are still three in the same spot but we keep checking from the basement window so we don't disturb their area and we haven't seen the mom all day. I'm nervous she won't come back for the rest of them. They are too young to eat on their own. We put out more food and water

They will need to be bottle fed if she doesn't return soon. Maybe she is in the middle of moving them somewhere else.

I figured they would need to be bottle fed. The food and water was left for the mom

if they are still there my friend Katrina runs a cat rescue. Her facebook page is Jacobs Hope. She will come and trap the mom and babies and then get them all the care they need.

Thanks for responding. Last night the kittens started crying so we went out to check and there were only two of them so we left them alone figuring the mom has been around. This morning there was only one. We are hoping she comes today or tonight to take him. If not we might try to intervene.
