strawberries for tomorrow
how soon before i need strawberries can i cut them up and put them in a little sugar. a co-worker's birthday is tomorrow. i made the woman's day no-bake strawberry cheese cake, but it requires strawberries on top.
i will be in the office at 8am and she won't be in until noon.
can i cut up the strawberries tonight and have the "syrup" ready and just assemble just before lunch??

Yes. The longer it sits, the softer the strawberries get and the thicker the juice gets. I usually do it overnight for shortcake and then I cut up some new fresh strawberries right before serving to go with the marinated ones.
