Strange Car Insurance Question
My brother in law was told by his car insurance that they need his mothers, his sisters, and my husbands insurance policy #'s or else they will drop him.
All of their licenses are at that house, but my husbands registration and insurance is under our address.
This sounds really really fishy, and I will not give him my policy #. Has anyone ever heard of something like this before?

They're probably just trying to ensure that there are no undisclosed drivers in the household - your DH's name probably showed up on his motor vehicle report. (it's usually run by address - he DID live there at one point, right?) They just want to be sure that your DH is not a risk on your BILs policy. I work for State Farm and they do this all the time. I wouldn't hesitate to give out your pol #.

so you dont think its wrong to ask for our policy number...i just feel like this is an invasion of privacy....there are 5 drivers at my house, and no one has ever had to give someone elses insurance....

They have a right to ask for this since they have the right to insure or NOT insure you.
I would give them what they want or else they will definitely drop you.
They want to ensure there are no inunsired motorists at that address.

its for my brother in law...i guess we will give it....ive been telling my husband to get his license changed...of course he hasnt....this whole insurance thing with him has been fishy from the start, I guess thats why we are all a little leary. Thanks for the replies.
