stopping breastfeeding...

i have decided to stop breastfeeding dd...it has been a great experience but she is sleeping better when we give her whole milk..and honestly pumping has become more of a hassle with me going to school full-time. i havent pumped/fed her since yesterday morning...i am extrmely full but it hasnt become very painful yet...how long can will it be like this? when will it dry up? do i have to do anything or just let "them" do what they need to do??

Re: stopping breastfeeding...

You probably will have to pump just a little to release some pressure, not to much cause you want to dry up, but just for a couple minutes just to take that pressure feeling away.Chat Icon I heard putting frozen cabbage leaves on the boobs works too!

I weaned very gradually, but never had to pump. I was never uncomfortable. Eventually my body just went back to normal.

Re: stopping breastfeeding...

At first I hand expressed 3 times a day, just a bit.

Then went to 2 a day.

Then just in the mornings.

I took ibprofren.

Wore cabbage.

They also say that something that compresses you, like a sports bra is good to wear 24/7.

Re: stopping breastfeeding...

I was down to 1-2 feedings a day when I stopped. Within the first week I pumped 3 times, but just enough to relieve pressure. I was lucky enough that this was all I had to do.
