Stomach Virus in a 3 month old!
DH and I have been battling a terrible stomach bug since Monday. We sent our almost 3 month old to Grandma's for 2 days in hopes that she would escape catching it, but now Grandma has it too I'm terrified DD is going to get it now and frankly, this virus has wreaked so much havoc on our adult bodies I can only imagine how sick it would make an infant.
I'm trying to prepare ourselves in case she does come down with it. What can/should I do for her, give her, etc? DH and I both threw up every 15 minutes for about 5 or 6 hours straight. That was accompanied by frequent bouts of diarrhea (sorry, TMI, but I'm trying to give you an idea of what we're expecting it to be like for her). And then achy and nauseous for about 2 days after that. I'm so worried that she'll be dehydrated and also choke on her spit up.

You can give her pedialyte. Both of my sons had stomach viruses as infants (little guy was 2 weeks old) and I gave them watered down pedialyte. Just make sure she has at least one wet diaper every 12 hrs.
Call her pediatrician as well to let them know as well.

Re: Stomach Virus in a 3 month old!
Our little guy last year had it - we gave him pedialyte through a syringe. He threw up for 5 or 6 days. Just keep making sure they have wet diapers
If he does get it - keep lots of towels and rubber gloves around.
I hope he doesn't get it

I thought that was you on the Rockland Mommies board! Thank you! I picked up some Pedialyte just to keep on hand in case she does start to get sick.

Get some hospital chucks or puppy pads just in case. They're the easiest when little ones are throwing up. Hopefully she steers clear!

I was going to message you because I was thinking the same thing.
It's good to have.
3/4 of us got the virus you described last year (pretty much the same symptoms of rotovirus but, not). Also have a lot of wipes handy for diaper blowouts.
If she does catch the virus and gets dehydrated - the Valley Ped ER is great.

Hopefully your LO escapes without getting sick! My DD miraculously avoided it even though every single person around her got sick- me, DH, my sister (who watches her daily), my mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, everyone! Fingers crossed yours is the same!

Thanks so much for the tips! I delivered at Valley and absolutely loved them but hadn't heard much about the Ped ER. But I always try to avoid Nyack, so it's great to know Valley is a good option instead!
Ugh this virus is terrible...I can't imagine having your 2 week old with it!! You must have been a mess with worry

Thank you! I'm she avoids it. So far DH, me, Grandma, and our friend who was over the night I got sick have all gotten it. She's at daycare all day so that keeps her away from us for most of the day, but we were kissing her face and feeding her and of course breathing around her before we knew we were even sick, so it would be a miracle if she doesn't end up with it

Re: Stomach Virus in a 3 month old!
There is hope! Both my husband and I had it and neither of our kids got it (3 and 3 months). Its now been 3 weeks since.
I have absolutely NO idea how - it was a miracle because they say your contagious before you even show symptoms....I lysoled the crap out of everything once I was better - but who knows if that was what made the difference or not.
