stimming/dosage/timeline
This is my first injectable cycle. I did 4 days of follistim at 75 iu and went for u/s today. Nada there are 4 on each side, but they are tiny, a few mm each ( if that).
I am upset. i am going to talk to RE later and he will probably up the dosage. I am just scared. Am I not supposed to have a lot of follies on injectables?
If you did injectable cycle, please tell me at what point/dosage/CD did you start to respond?
Thanks

Re: stimming/dosage/timeline
if youve only been on for four days thats fine. he might up your dose but theres no reason to be disappointed yet. it takes time to figure out the right dose - every body reacts differently. for me, i was started on 150iu cause i didnt respond to clomid at all. after 4 injects and femara i hyperstimmed and had 10+ mature follies and had to cancel the cycle and go on BCP for a month to calm my ovaries.
the next cycle we started all the way down at 37.5ius. but after BCP i was so suppressed - that cycle took 21 days to stim 2 mature follies!!
my subsequent cycles were all around 75ius. it just takes time and trial and error to find the right dosage for YOU.
its much better to go slow and steady than to hyperstim, i promise!! and the goal in an IUI cycle is NOT to have a lot of follies. the goal is to have 2-3 mature, max 4-5. any more vastly increases the risk for multiples.

Re: stimming/dosage/timeline
4 days is just the beginning. Since it's your first injectable cycle it's going to be trial and error. When I stimmed for IVF they knew I would be a good response because I had a lot of follies but it took a few days (I believe 12 or so) before they all became mature. I remember thinking wow this is taking longer than I expected. 4 days is too early to panic. Good Luck

Re: stimming/dosage/timeline
just echoing what FlowerWife said....my dr put it this way and I thought it made perfect sense...they don't want to start you out too high and then have a "popcorn" effect....where they follies just pop, pop, pop and you have too many and then need to "abort mission"....so keep that in mind too....it's better for it to take longer than to have too many and need to waste the entire cycle.

Re: stimming/dosage/timeline
Agree with the PP's. When I have done IUI's in the past, I have usually been ready to trigger by day day 7 or 8 of stims, but I was also always on a much higher dosage than you. It really is trial and error. 75 units is a tiny amount of stims...your Dr. will probably up your stim amount and see where it goes from there. GL!!
