Stimming?---One more question (updated)
Still new at this and learning
What does Stimming mean?
We are doing our first IUI with Meds next month. Started Lupron 4 days ago.
I am already stimming?
Sorry for the silly question; I should know what it means already
Thank you for your help
One more question.... PS... How long does Stimming last before the trigger shot?

Re: Stimming?
No, you're not stimming with the Lupron. Lupron is used for suppression, it dramatically lowers estrogen levels by regulating the body's production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Lupron essentially "shuts down" the body's reproductive hormone system. While shut down, a follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) drug like Gonal-F or Follistim, to cause the recruitment and development of follicles. This is the "stimming" phase. Dosages of FSH will be adjusted based on your response and will go on until the follicles are mature.

do you have to do lupron with injectable cycle? is it a necessary first step?

Thank you angel333 That means that my stimming phase will begin next week hopefully!!! According to the research I have done the FSH is usually started within the first 2-7 days after the period begins. So my AF is due on the 26th of this month, which is the same day I go see my RE for another consultation and the prescription of the FSH.
WOW, I am learning so much!!! Thank you very much lots of babydust back to you!

It's not a necessary step. I had it done for one of my IUI cycles to prevent a lead follicle from being recruited too early in the cycle, which is somewhat typical when you have elevated FSH (which was my case). Plus, as my doctor at the time had explained it to me, it helps with getting more follicles out of you if you are a poor responder, because your system is suppressed and the doctor is in total control of everything

Re: Stimming?
I did not use Lupron for IUIs, just Folliistim beginning on Day 3. I am usually an over-responder maybe that is why.

lupron is an agonist, meaning that it ultimately inhibits the production of FSH and LH. this is used for suppression PRIOR and during a stim cycle.
isnt part of a normal injectable cycle, its generally only used in an IVF cycle or an atypical IUI injectable protocol. it can also be used as a trigger instead of HCG for those prone to OHSS.

Re: Stimming?---One more question (updated)
It different for everyone and every cycle. Typically, I stim for a week and I'm good to go, but this cycle it took 2 weeks.
It depends what type of responder you are, etc.
