Still confused about extending our kitchen
So we were 99% sure we were extending our kitchen into the laundry room, that was until last night Most of our house is built on a slab. We do have a small basement but that is towards the back half of the house and the kitchen is to the left of where the basement is. This means the kitchen is on the slab.
DH open up a section of wall behind the stove (that is the wall we plan on moving) and saw the waterlines are coming from the slab. We would be extending the lines about 4-5ft. The issue is that we would need break the foundation to get to the pipes to extend it.
Has anyone done this? Do you think it is worth it? Unfortunately, while my DH could do the work all our family is OOS so he wouldn't have any help that isn't really a solo job. We did as one plumber and he said it would be between $3-$4K. That is if everything goes the way it is suppose to. I actually think it might be more because there is a lot of plumbing involved. We are not moving the sink, but the main feed and drain pipes would need to extended.
I would not be disappointed if our kitchen size stayed the same. DH said he could remove the soffit for me on one side to give me some more storage.
