Still Breech!!!

So I'm almost 34 weeks and Chat Icon is still nice and comfy in his breech position. In fact, he was sitting Indian style with his legs crossed Chat Icon Chat Icon For those who have been through this, when will they have me schedule the c/s? Do they wait until closer to the end to schedule you, like after 36 weeks? I see my doctor tomorrow to go over the sono so I'll ask them, I was just curious what the norm is.

Re: Still Breech!!!

My lil one was breech up until 35 weeks. My doc would have scheduled a c-section if I wanted to, but collectively, we (me, DH and doc) decided to hold out as long as we could. He would have scheduled the c-section for week 39 to avoid me going into labor and having the c-section be an emergent versus scheduled one which presents more risks. I am now 38 weeks and 4 days.

Yeah I definately feel like I have a good 2 weeks before I really need to worry. Did you feel her turn? I mean right now I know where his head and butt are, so I would think I would know when he turns. I keep trying to push his head down, but he just goes right back into position Chat Icon Chat Icon

Our Chat Icon was breech until about 35 weeks. When I went in for a sono to confirm that he was breech they told me that I had 2 options. I could have him flipped by the dr. (you go into the hospital and they push on your belly in an attempt to flip the baby naturally) or I could schedule a C-section. They said they wouldn't actually do anything until later in the pregnancy (around 37-38 weeks).

They also told me to try some "natural" methods to get him to flip (you can look them up online). I tried this one: Get a pair of headphones and play classical music on the lower portion of your belly. Baby will move his head closer to the music so he can hear better. I did that for an hour on a Monday night an when I woke up on Tuesday morning I could feel that he was in a different position. A week later I went to the dr. for another sono and he had successfully flipped!!

Well I don't think I will do the version, I have 2 hernias so I'm a little nervous about them manipulating my abdomen!! I have tried hanging upside down a little bit, but it's so uncomfortable and not easy with reflux and indigestion Chat Icon I'll have to try the headphones Chat Icon

Yeah I can't really wrap my mind around scheduling the due date!! It's just a little surreal! How is your baby positioned? Mine had been footling and still is at times (i can feel it from the sudden kicks to my cervix!).

Most of the time she's a slacker!
She leans one way or the other.. you can see the buldge of her head.

But her pelvis is ALWAYS lined up perfectly with mine. So its like she's on a couch and leaning one way or the other..

She 'kicks' her arms alot. She's not a foot kicker much but when she does kick me with her feet, I feel it alright. Its sort of surprising cause I don't expect it. I feel her tiny arms waving about from time to time and honestly its WERID! tiny little elbows..

Lately (im 37w) she will burp I guess or play with her fluid (i have a lil more than normal) or as Jim says she "farts" cause you'll feel bubbles in there. Its really strange. But hey.. that's pregnancy for ya..

T minus 20days (unless something else happens)

Re: Still Breech!!!

my ob doesn't even CHECK the baby position until 36 weeks. I asked him to at my 34 week appt and then he felt my belly and said Scone was head down....

He said there's still a lot of movement until the last month.......

I didnt feel her actually turn, but she is a pretty active baby so maybe I did. My bottom line was that I wanted to give myself every opportunity to deliver her vaginally (with lots of drugs) that was within my power to do so. Now that she is pretty much in position and ready to go, I have a different obstacle that may prevent me from doing so. But only time will tell and at least I'll have no regrets.

Yeah normally they probably wouldn't have even checked, but they wanted me to have a biophysical sono becuase of my pre-term contractions. Now I will get them every other week to keep an eye on things so it's probably a good thing to NOT know Chat Icon I'm suffering from a case of TMI!!

Yeah they wouldnt schedule it until at least 36weeks

and even now they intend to first CHECK that morning before prepping me for c/s

That being said, they wont schedule me any earlier than 39w, period.

Since my doc is on Vacation all THIS week and NEXT week.. my 39th week is the week he comes back, they went ahead and slotted me in.

I talked to a pediatrician last night and she honestly told me that c/s aren't the end of the world. OB said the same thing too.. its MUCH safer than an emergancy c/s and still safer than a breech baby.

My OB is against 'inversion' or whatever to manually turn the baby because there's nothing to say she won't turn back and it has its own risks.

I really just want her here (not like I'm done or anything) but I'm not waiting and putting her at risk so i can say "I had her natural" .. i mean who cares really? Its not like she gets to wear a badge to school saying "mommy gave birth to me from her hole and wasn't cut into". *shrug*

Still..i recongize i have time.. anything can happen. Just hoping if she stays breech she waits for the doc to return and if she flips she waits for the doc to return! Chat Icon
