Steroids?
Anybody ever take steroids to help their baby's lungs develop? I am 32 weeks preg. with twin boys. I am measuring 40 weeks and one baby is in position. My cervix is long and closed but my doctor is still concerned. He wants me to get a steroid shot next week just in case I should begin contractions or go into labor with in the next few weeks. He feels it is just a safety precaution. It lasts for 3 weeks so if I get it next week then by 36 weeks the lungs will def. be developed. Anybody have any experience with this? Any pros or cons or opinions welcome. TIA

Re: Steroids?
I had steroids at about 24 weeks. 2 shots in my azz. My cervix was very short and my dr. was worried about preterm labor. In the end, I went into labor at 40 weeks, 1 day! My DD was 7 pounds 12 oz and 21" long. She's pretty strong for a newborn and DH always jokes that it's from the steroids.

Re: Steroids?
I got them with my first son and will prob get them again bc I am already on bedrest. The dr did tell me that you should try to get them within 2-3 weeks of delivery so they are the most effective. Good luck!

Re: Steroids?
I'm 30 weeks PG with twins and had the steroid shots at 28 weeks. My cervix is short and I've been on bedrest. Better safe than sorry -- those shots are a great precaution....

Re: Steroids?
Thank you to all that have helped me. I will be getting the shot next Wednesday. Did you blow up? My sister had them with her twins 12 years ago and she became really swollen.

I didn't have any side effects at all -- other than being a bit sore in my arse where they stuck me!
