Starting Yogurt?

DD is 8 months, I bought yogurt to try. How often am I supposed to give it to her? And in place of a fruit/veggie or WITH a fruit/veggie?

Re: Starting Yogurt?

It depends how much DD eats at a feeding now. Most baby food jars/containers are 2-2.5 oz. Do you give her one at a feeding or 2? Yogurt is 4 oz so if you usually give her two 2oz containers than I would start with just the yogurt alone. I do yogurt & some fruit. I try to think of my taste buds....yogurt and veggies just doesn't seem like a good combo to me, although, I am sure plenty of people do it.

ITA with this.

But we just do the yogurt by itself mostly.

C- so far we give half the container of yogurt and then half a container of a fruit or veggie (if its banana flavored i may give some carrots or another veggie after b/c i know hes till a little hungry and i dont want to give a fruit b/c i feel like its so much fruit). Eventually when we get to giving the whole container, i will prob eliminate the fruit or veggie following
also i only give it once a day, at lunch time and we started out with like 2 tablespoons and worked our way up

Re: Starting Yogurt?

I do plain yogurt mixed with some fruit/veggies (i too thought it was weird, but the sweet veggies like swt. Potatoes, carrots ect. actually work ). Since I buy it in a big container I do 3-4 tbls. of yogurt to 2-3 tbls. of fruit/veggies.
