starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

It will take me forever to commit to something as far as furniture, or a decor look, etc.

I am still looking for a kitchen table set 6 months later. I don't know if I am too picky or what......and it's not that I don't look everywhere, either. I do.....

anyone else feel this way? any tips?

I still don't have window treatments.

8 years in the house.

I hate making the committment and spending the money.

This is me too, I want to just start from scratch we have a lot of hand me down furniture, everything is mismatched and I have such a hard time finding something to go with everything else I can never commit to ANYthing. I get jealous going into other ppl's houses and all their rooms are just completely finished, not missing a thing. Like they got all the furniture at one place, painted, decor and done! I think I'm too picky on quality I won't just settle for an ok pc of furniture.

Took me a little while to find couches. If you don't love it, why spend the money?

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

yes - and I feel like my house is never complete. i always feel like it is in progress because there is aways *something* missing. We finished our dining room (removed wallpaper, painter, added picture box moldings, got a new chandelier, brought my moms set it) but the walls have beenbare for 2 months bc I can't decide on artwork. Soooo close to being done. I bet the walls will be bare for a year.

yes. me too. i can't decide between two different decor styles, and have been looking for furniture for 2 years.

i feel if i make a commitment to any one piece, the first piece, i would have decided on a "style", and i can't commit to one style, because i really like both...but one more than the other because i'm a lazy housekeeper and dark furniture shows dust more...

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

I used to be so decisive with my taste-now I seem to take forever.

And, to make it worse, I second guess some of my decisions once they are done. Our bedroom was painted 3 different colors, my kids rooms 2 or 3 each (and they are only 1 and 3).

The furniture in our formal living room-eh, along with the curtains. Wrong decision.

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

Yup, me too!

I didn't put anything up on the walls for 4 years because I couldn't commit to it and didn't want to put holes in my new sheetrock. I finally said to myself this past fall it had to stop and I just started putting stuff up and it looks great, I should've done it a long time ago.

I found out, sometimes, you just have to jump in!

It takes me such a long time too. Thankfully when we moved to NY, I had just graduated and was unemployed so I had a ton of time to research options. I'm sure if I was working it would have taken much, much longer!

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

Please, I didn't have a living room set for 2 1/2 years. I thought I wanted a super formal (and super expensive) European style living room and I wound up w/a casual style set. And I'm so glad that I waited because I love the set that I have. Everyone feels so comfortable in my living room and we actually can relax and enjoy it whereas if I bought the formal set I would've been so afraid of something happening to the furniture and probably wouldn't have allowed anyone to has as much as a glass of water in there.

Don't worry. As soon as you find something you like you will know.

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

yes and no...

i am more of a buy it, see how i like it for awhile and then decide if it's a keeper - sometimes i can't tell until the item is actually in my house and i live with it for awhile - you can't really do that with furniture but i do it with accessories/decor/lighting...i just save the receipt and if i'm not 100% or if it doesn't grow on me we return it. but usually it takes awhile for me to buy something, i procrastinate about it, buy it and then end up returning it Chat Icon my DH hates that i do this. he says i always change my mind - but i hate spending money on something i don't love...

i want to change our dining room light fixture. i love the fixture but i want to change it to the chandelier that matches my kitchen and foyer light. my DH thinks i am crazy. he says i can't commit. we did plan the entire room around that light fixture Chat Icon but now that the room is just about done i want to change it Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

so i have def have issues when it comes to decorating and commiting! DH always says he is glad i'm not sick of him yet Chat Icon

Re: starting to think I have an issue..anyone else feel this way sometimes??

I am that way too. But most of my problem is that I will see something I like, but DH & I won't agree. It took alot of compromising to get out kitchen table/chairs and the couch in our family room. After those purchases, I was drained. This is why we still (2.5 years later) don't have nice master bedroom furniture. Chat Icon Many time with many things (paint colors, etc) I'll know what I like, but the thought of convincing DH exhausts me. It's annoying. Chat Icon
