Starting to take this personally

DS is 6 weeks old. He is a different child with other people, especially my husband. He sleeps well and is less cranky. Every weekend I think we turned a corner, then come Mon and he is back to cat napping, fussing, and wanting me to hold him constantly. Yesterday we were all together - he slept for hours, went in the car without crying and was overall more content. I get so frustrated which I'm sure is contributing to the problem. I find myself in tears at least once a day because I feel like he doesn't like me and I'm not enjoying this time with him. It's just heartbreaking Chat Icon

It's not you! It's probably the environment. Do you take him out durin gthe week? My kids are super cranky if we are in the house all day long.

I think I anticipate the worst at this point and he feels it. I need to just plan my day and incorporate him, instead of planning my day around him. I only have 6ish more weeks with him and I want to enjoy it!!

This is exactly right and it took me a while to learn this as well!!!!

I do find that babies are crankier around mommy--so that is totally normal. They like to tell us more of their problems Chat Icon

Im sorry your going through this but first deep breaths. Change your thoughts instead of waking up like ugh what am i in for today. Wake up and say todays gonna be great. Im going out with ds and were gonna have a good day. Take deep breaths and try to be patient with baby. Yes the more you lose your patience the more they feel that and the fussier they become. I notice if i stay calm and continue to soothe my dd she calms down too. Even at 1 years old.
I dont find babies are crankier with mommy i think they just know mommy has the right touch. Like when my dd gets hurt or is tired she wants me.

Just be patient. Take it 1 hour at a time. Take deep breaths and keep positive thoughts. And seriously wake up and talk to yourself. And when yiu find yourself losing your patience catch it qnd talk yourself down. Hes just a baby and he wants to be soothed and your his mommy. He loves you.

And like another poster said, plan your day around you not the baby. I took my dd out since she was an infant and till this day she loves going out. I took her food shopping the mall long walks long car rides friends and family houses.
My friends that didnt do it continue to have problems in large crowds with their kids.

It's not you. I Remember crying to my mom when my first daughter was born....convinced my daughter didn't like me. Now 6 years later, I can't even believe I thought that. I feel in a way she and I have a special bond.....that is just ours. Give yourself time. Your baby is only 6 weeks. Take it one day at a time and don't put so much pressure on yourself. I agree with other posts.... Getting out helps A LOT. Good luck.....it'll be fine!

How is he when you hold him? Maybe he just wants to be in mommy's arms bc that's where he's comfortable and safe?
