Starting to shut down...

I have had such a bad few days. I feel like I just took on too much and I'm to the point where I'm having a hard time functioning.

Between finishing up the school year with a HORRIBLE co-teacher, seriously the girl is sucking my will to teach. She is the most negative, vindictive, spiteful person I've ever met and it is making what should be a fun time finishing up the school year with students I've had for two years and grown to LOVE miserable. Aside from the regular packing up/moving of classrooms, every day is a struggle because of the biznatch.

Then college --- taking 15 credits in one semester when you go back for your masters, work full time, and have a baby are NOT recommended. My professor for my last class just keeps piling on MORE and MORE work. I can't keep up with it all, and I'm all OCD about getting straight A's since I have before ..... and the amount of work she gave us this session for next session is just too much. I have a unit due as an extention to the case study I already did, a paper on a research article, and now she just put on a project where we have to make up a thematic unit for our opposite grade level -- meaning I teach 1st grade and I have to do it for 8th grade.

I am just so stressed. They say you can't have it all and I totally believe that --- but I feel obligated to try and do it all -- because I'm the breadwinner, so I have to work, and if I don't complete my master's by next year I'll be out of a job. Yet I feel like the thing that is suffering is my daughter. I've barely seen her this week.

I am sorry to complain, I am just so stressed. I'm at the point when I get home at night and I just want to go to bed and close my eyes and not think about anything, yet instead a million and one things race through my head because I have so much to do.

I'm sorry to vent to you guys, I just feel more comfortable on this board and I needed to get it off of my chest.

Sorry you had a crappy week.

please don't think you can't have it all. You can and so many woman do. I don't go to school but work full time and have a really good job. I was recently promoted (haven't even been back from Maternity leave a year)

I have weeks like you just had. There are better ones ahead. Please don't let your co-teacher stress you out. You have worked hard with these kids for 2 years and should enjoy this time.

Your daughter is doing great! Let her be the happy part of every day.

I don't think I'd be able to go back to school at this point...I have my MA in speech, and I know I'll never get my doctorate

I give you a lot of credit for doing all of that. It must be so hard. Stick with it

It will be worth it and when you are all done you will be so proud of all your accomplishments

Emily isn't suffering in the long run if she sees a mom who worked hard to help support her family - and bettered herself with education.

While I can't imagine going to school now (since my mind is fried by children), I know what it's like to barely see your baby. It does 5uck. Try to keep your eye on the prize, a secure job so you get summers off.

I have no idea how you do it all. You are an amazing mother for doing all that you do to make sure your family is well provided for, don't ever doubt that.

I can relate to your college issues since I was in the same place last year....though without a baby here just one in utero. I also felt that I had to get straight As and put alot of stress on myself and I had to just keep reminding myself that I am getting my masters degree and no one is going to see my gpa and life is too short to stress over things like that when there is so much more going on.....like playing with little Emily! Try to cut yourself some slack and keep the big picture in mind. We're all here for you.

Thank you so much guys for all of your replies. I have to keep reminding myself that there are only 3 days of school left and I've pushed myself before and so I just need to do it for one more week and then I'll have a much needed vacation and unlimited time with Emily.

DH let me sleep in this morning instead of him even though Sunday is normal my day on early AM duty, and he also let me take a small 45 minute nap this afternoon and took care of Emily. I am lucky because he does SO much and if I didn't have such a supportive husband I wouldn't be able to get through it all.

We did a bit of errands and running around but didn't have any plans to meet up with people so it was nice to just come and go from the house as we needed to instead of having so many things to get done.
