starting solids: Is there a chart of how much/often to feed?

DD is 5 months and I am still BF, but introducing solids...she loves the cereal so far.

How much should I be giving her and how often? Is there a chart to follow as she gets older?

TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted one too! I searched and searched for one but couldn't find anything.

Right now DS does 2 tbsp of cereal twice a day but I don't know if we up the amount and when. We're starting fruits/veggies next week so I figure I'll start with 1/4 jar and work our way up to a full one but do we increase the amount of cereal too?

This solids thing is very confusing!

there are books you can either take out of the library (or if you're lazy like me, buy on amazon).

most babyfood cookbooks discuss the order of food introduction, and quantities in their first few chapters.....

I was wondering the same thing. as of right now I give him 2tblsp of cereal 2x a day but I think he could down much more than that. We will be starting veggies this week...as soon as we get to the farmers market.

I introduced solids at 6 months (DD was EBF). She will be 9 months on Thursday. Her ped said she should be up to 4 tablespoons cereal and an entire jar of fruit or veggies by this time.

I started her w/ 1 tablespoon and increased it gradually.

ETA: she is still EBF.

Her current schedule to be reviewed tomorrow w/ ped is:

5AM nurse
8AM nurse
10am oatmeal & fruit
1PM 4-6 oz BM
4PM 4-6 oz BM
6PM nurse
7PM cereal & veggie
10PM nurse

I've gone on Babycenter.com and they give you guide lines on when to start what and how much for different ages like 4-6 months 7-9 and 9-12
