Starting on cereal

DD will be starting cereal tonight.

Question how much do i give her

When do i up it and when do i change it from rice to oatmeal etc.

My doctor said it was personal choice when to give it to her.

I though that was werid.

It's not weird. We tried rice, it was binding, we just switched to oatmeal and he likes that better.

Follow the directions on the box, it says to add one tablespoon to four or five tablespoons of formula or breastmilk. I just made it thicker as the first week went on.

DS only gets oatmeal at night, their nutrition is still supposed to come from formula or breastmilk.

We started feeding Taylor cereal twice a day. I give her the cereal with her second bottle of the day (around 930) and then at the second to last feeding (somewhere around 6pm).

We started the rice cereal and then switched to oatmeal 2 weeks later.

My dr gave us the ok at his last visit. He said that if we started if before his next visit, great, if not, that was okay too. He said it was up to us.

We decided to start about a week later. I give him 1 tbsp 2x a day. He seems to be doing well. I am not sure when I should start giving him more though, or when to add different foods. I am going to ask at my next visit!

Megan started cereal a little later than most babies. I would say around 6 months.

She didnt like it at first. We started with barley. Very little, mostly formula. We stayed on that for like a week until we knew she wasnt allergic then moved to oatmeal. We never did rice because she gets constipated very easily.

After about 2 weeks, we started twice a day. Morning and night. She loves it. She still does actually! Good luck! I found it so exciting when we first did cereal!
