Starting finger foods?
When did you start giving DC finger foods like puffs and other food thats not pureed? Did you wait for a certain age? A certain number of teeth? What were you're requirements and when did you feel comfortable? Just trying to prepare myself...

Re: Starting finger foods?
We started today!
DD has been refusing to eat cereal, fruit or any other pureed food so I asked my ped if puffs were ok and he said fine. DD is 7 1/2 months old and she lived eating her puffs

Re: Starting finger foods?
cereal and veggies and fruits was 6 months finger foods like puffs, banana chunks was at 8 months - however DD was not doing well with them at all - gagging and throwing up so we stopped it for a week and reintroduced it again. She is now doing great with puffs, banana chunks and yogurt. I am going to introduce avocado and egg yolks this week.
We started everything when our doctor gave us clearance but followed DD's lead.

Re: Starting finger foods?
it just looked like she was ready, very interested in what we were eating. i just tried a little bit at a time. started with mum mums at 5 months...then with puffs at 6 months....once she was fine with those, i gave bits of pancake. she did fine with those, so moved on to other similar things, waffles, bread etc. we would give her 1/4 of a bagel to gnaw on. i sit by her and watch her very closely. i can tell if shes ok or if shes having trouble...so i know if i can move on or not. when she was doing fine, i moved onto small bits of steam fruit, or cut up meatballs, then cheese etc etc.

Re: Starting finger foods?
DD just turned 7 months and her first tooth is growing in but I'm just afraid of her choking or something on the little things... I'm not too familiar with the puffs and mum mums; do they melt in her mouth or does she need to chew them?
