Starting Dancing School- help?
My 3 1/2 yo twins are going to start dancing school in a couple of weeks, tap and ballet.
I need to buy 2 leotards, tights, a chiffon cover skirt and shoes for both classes.
Does anyone have recommendations for inexpensive stuff? Target? Payless? I'm not breaking the bank on this... they're so little. TIA

Re: Starting Dancing School- help?
I think it is worth it to buy a decent brand of tights. We use balera tights and they hold up pretty well over time. The little guys are on the floor a lot and these don't rip as easily. I usually buy my dance shoes at a dance store because I like them to fit them properly and I'm horrible at it. I find leotards with Lycra wash better over time.

I recommend buying shoes at the dance store because payless is not cheaper for them at all. Plus they will properly size your girls. I bought leotards from the dance store as well. I found the quality was better. They are at target, kohls and kmart. I also bought 1 from zulily.
I did buy dance tights but don't think its worth it because they get so dogged out. I ended up buying carters and just bought a few white and a few pink. Only bought from the dance store for her recitals.

Capezio tights are the best. My girls have never ripped a single pair and I agree buy tap shoes at the dance store. Ballet shoes are fine from payless.

Before you buy shoes, you may want to check with the school. Mine requires all the girls in the class to have the same shoes (they want a uniform look for the recital), so we get them from the dance studio.
Leotards from kohls (they run so small, we go up 2 sizes), target, or zulily. We also like the wenchoice brand for the cute tutu ones (Amazon or zulily)

I bought the shoes from the studio which I'm sure was more expensive but we signed up late. I got leotards and skirts from Walmart. Inexpensive and they held up well all year.

ITA. You'll def want to size up on the leotards from Target though. My DD wears a 4T, but a 6/6x in the Target Danskin leotards. I agree about asking what color shoes your studio wants them to wear. It probably won't matter for class, but usually for the recital you'll need a specific color tap shoe, so you may as well make sure you get the right one from the start.

Def check with your dance school about the shoes. Our dance school just requires black tap shoes and Velcro for that age but everyone didn't have to have the same exact shoe, and also pink ballet shoes. Both of which I got at Payless. If you wait for the beginning of September, Payless usually has a buy one get one half off of all shoes. Dance shoes included. I believe I also had a 20% off coupon when I did it last year. Walmart for the danskin dance tights, they are $4.00 each. I also got leotards from Walmart and kohls pretty cheap. Some of them had the skirts attached. Tutu's I got through our dance studio for $10 each.
