Star Rebate...how??
How do you get the Star rebate...as a check at the end of the year or do they automatically lower your taxes & so you are paying less throughout the year?
Thx.
PS--if its different re: county/town, list where you live.

the owners before us had star so we just "rode" their exemption for this year. We have to apply on our own for the following years. You go to your town accesser office with a copy of your deed and fill out an application. (Town of Smithtown)

Same for Town of Brookhaven. We applied before the March 1 deadline (2007) and it will be used on our taxes in 2008. Currently we're paying taxes without star cause the previous owners didn't have it.

same with us - now will we get the rebate check or do we have to wait until next year?

it says its for the 07-08 school year. which would be this decembers tax bill right? Im thinking we will - but i dont want to get my hopes up!

Yeah, it should be reflected in that bill.
