Star Rebate Check Spinoff
I printed a sample application offline, and I see you had to have been living in the house as of 3/1/07. Am I reading this correctly?
So for us new homeowners, we need to wait until next year?

depending when you moved in, it could seem like 2 years...
so since you just purchased recently, you must fill out your star form by 03/08. Once that application goes though, it will kick in 01/09
We went though this and probally many others did also

It also depends on where you live and when the cutoff to apply for the STAR exemption is. For the Town of Hempstead, the deadline for 2008 is Jan 1st. We moved into our house in May. I spoke with someone on the STAR rebate hotline and she told me that as long as we are signed up for the exemption as of Jan 1st, we will receive a rebate check at the end of 2008, as long as they do the rebates again next year (they are not a guarantee).
