Standards

Do you have a different set of rules for your friends and family than you do for other people?

Are you harder on those closest to you? Or more lax?

I think that I am more lenient with my friends. An action or comment from a stranger that infuriates me - would be excused away if I knew and liked the person.

My girlfriend - on the other hand - expects her friends to always be better than the rest.

What about you?

ETA: Here is the story behind the question...
Yesterday I was b*tching about something someone did. My girlfriend said "Well THIS PERSON does the same thing habitually and it doesn't bother you.." And I answered honestly - "Because I like her." So basically I allow my friends to behave in cr*ppy ways sometimes - simply becuase I like them.

I think this is a question of tolerance rather than standards.

I can tolerate a lot bc I am extremely low maintenance. I don't expect much from strangers/colleauges/ect other than respect.

I am very easy with my friends. I never get mad if they break plans or can't be there for something. I don't expect or want daily phone calls/emails. We're all adults, life happens.

I suppose I have the shortest fuse with DH/family. I guess bc they HAVE to put up with me
