St. Gerard - Patron Saint of Expectant Mothers

St. Gerard

I pray to him every day.... there is a novena on the site and I also say this everyday to along with 3 Our Fathers, 3 Hail Marys and 3 Glory Bes.

O great Saint Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of your meek and humble Savior, and devoted child of Mother of God, enkindle within my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of charity which glowed in your heart and made you an angel of love.

O glorious Saint Gerard, because when falsely accused of crime, you did bear, like your Divine Master, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men, you have been raised up by God as the patron and protector of expectant mothers.

Preserve me from danger and from the excessive pains accompanying childbirth, and shield the child which I now carry, that it may see the light of day and receive the purifying and life-giving waters of baptism through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

thanks...i have the card that i read during my mornign commute...i also have the medal but its in my bag...i'm not wearing yet, bc we havent told anyone...i'm just 9 weeks

my nana sent me a prayer card for a safe and healthy birth...i am too fat and lazy to go into the babies nursery to see the name of the saint but im almost positive it was this one.....she sent it when i started my bedrest and was having AWFUL nausea...i am not religious really but have been much more healthy ever since! lets hope it bbrings healthy labor

my grandmother wears a miraculous medal pinned to her bra everyday. so when she heard that we were having difficulty conceving - she gave me a st. gerard's medal and I have been wearing it pinned to my bra every day since

I pray my St Gerard prayer card and wear the medal every day. The month I said the novena for women trying to conceive is the month I got my BFP. So I am a firm believer that St. Gerard will protect me and my baby during pregnancy.

My father's middle name is Gerard. He's named after Saint Gerard.

My dad is the 3rd child in his family. My grandmother suffered a few miscarriages after her first two babies and prayed every day to St. Gerard.

Well - identical twin boys Paul Gerard and Timothy Francis were born a few months later. . . followed a few years later by fraternal twin boys - and then a few years later by two more boys (not twins)!!!

All in all - 7 boys and 1 girl!
St. Gerard was working overtime!

I keep the prayer card on my desk and pray it when I come in. A fellow LIF sent me this card when I was TTC and I am now 7 months pregnant.
