Sprinkler systems...

DH is OBSESSED, OBSESSED, OBSESSED with lawn care.
Mowing, weeding, seeding, watering...you name it...obsessed. He is begging for a sprinkler system to be put in...like a child sending me texts, calls.

Now he is torturing me with using the sprinkler between 8-10:30 pm (we have big property) because his lawn is "frying" in the heat and sunChat Icon Chat Icon I can barely do dishes and showering is annoying, if it can get done with the water pressure.

Is $2500 a feasible number for inground sprinklers on a timer?

BTW, ask him to do other stuff on the house like call a painter, plumber, etc FOREVER. He may cheat on me with the freaking grass.

Re: Sprinkler systems...

Anyone who knows anything about lawns knows that water at 9-10pm is one of the WORST times to water..... early morning, just before dawn is best.

i heard watering in the AM is best too, but I cant remember why Chat Icon

As far as $2500 for the sprinkler system, it seems reasonable but I am not really sure. Did you get an estimate from more than 1 company ?

I KNOW! He knows that...he goes to work at 5 am in the morning and is driving the point home...hence the sprinkler system push.

Re: Sprinkler systems...

For $30, he can get a timer to attach to the house sprinkler... Hose timer

He can attach his hose to this, then set the timer for whenever he wants, including just before sunrise... Chat Icon

Re: Sprinkler systems...

it depends on how many zones are needed. you say that you have a large property, therefore you will require a good number of zones. ie: i have over an acre. about .25 is woods and do not require to be watered. i have 12 zones that cover the rest of the property (almost an acre) with a 15 zone clock.

thanks to board recs, i would HIGHLY recommend McCormack Irrigation 631-744-1500.

Re: Sprinkler systems...

Its not based on the size of your property as much as how much or little water pressure you have. If you have low water pressure you would need more zones.

My father owns a Lawn Sprinkler company in Hicksville

I have my system come on at 1am
