Re: spraying of trees/bushes

I wouldn't do it unless I was having issues. We have bronze birch borers in our tree and only treated that one. I researched the chemical and it is regulated by Suffolk County. It was the only thing that could save the tree though. They put those little yellow tags in the ground to stay away from it for a few days. It does remain resident for a while, so I wouldn't put it out there unless it was absolutely necessary.

Just my opinion. Chat Icon

Re: spraying of trees/bushes

thanks for your input....my neighbor just had this done and my dh spoke w/the guy (who was spraying) who told him that it was safe and that they use an oil based product now.....needless to say i am still skeptical and my pups pretty much stayed in the house all day when they sprayed! and for the next couple of days after that we kept them away from that side of the yard!...the spray clearly went in my yard and the neighbors yard behind the sprayed yard (they have a pup too)....i figured i'd post here b/c i wanted more advice and opinions! (it's funny b/c i knew you would respond--and i am glad that u did!!)
i wonder how long it will take to "go away".....

Was it Neem oil or horticultural oil? Neem is so safe for dogs, you can actually shampoo them in it. I assumed you meant a landscaper did it and I don't know many that are that organic or environmentally conscious enough to use alternatives like Neem.

I've sprayed all my outside plants with a combination of Neem + dishwashing soap + water to control pests. Now that we have a dog, I'll check out if I really need the dishwashing soap or if it's dangerous to my dog.

i wish i knew which oil it was--i asked my dh and he doesn't know ( i may call the company and just ask!!) he said that they do germicide and the oil...one is used to suffocate the larvae, etc....i don't know if that is the oil or the germicide thoughChat Icon
